What is your contact information?

What are your hours of operation? 

We are open Tuesday-Saturday from 12pm-8pm. If you would like a tattoo on a Sunday, it is no problem, but you do need to schedule an appointment and leave a deposit. 

Is there parking? 

There is plenty of street parking right out front on 34th and 35 street, or there is a parking lot around the building on 34th street. Make sure you do not park in front of a door or tow away area. 

Do you do piercings? 

No. We are a tattoo shop only. 

Do you accept walk ins? 

Yes, we can take walk-ins on a daily basis. Please call ahead of time if there is a specific artist you would like to request. 

What is the shop minimum? 

Our shop minimum is $80. Although your tattoo may only take a short amount of time, you will enjoy it for the rest of your life. Our shop is clean, licensed and our artists have over 25 years experience combined.

How old do I have to be to get tattooed? 

You must be 18 with a valid ID to get tattooed at Rosa Negra. If you are under 18, but over 16, you will need to come in with your parent(s) and a notarized letter stating that you and your parents consent to be tattooed. You must include your name, your parent's name and the name of our shop. Examples can be found online. Also, your parent must be present at the appointment. 

How can I make an appointment? 

Our preferred method is for you to come to the shop. This way you can speak directly with the artist and go over the design and leave the required deposit. If you are unable to make it into the shop for a consult or to make an appointment, please email us with all the information, including placement, any references and preferred day of the weeks. We will respond within 24 hours. Email appointments are made with a PayPal deposit. 

A deposit is required for all appointments, correct? 

Yes, all appointments require a $50 deposit. A deposit holds your appointment and goes towards any drawing time, research and the final price of the tattoo. 

Is my deposit refundable? 

If you cancel less than 24 hours before the appointment, the deposit is not refundable. The deposit is also not refundable if your artist has already drawn the design. Your deposit is compensation for the time your artist takes to draw the tattoo. Please note: your deposit does not entitle you to ownership of the design, if you cancel the appointment. The design remains property of the artist/shop. 

Will you send a text or email of the design before my appointment?

No. We do not send over texts or emails of designs prior to the appointment. All designs can be seen the day of or the day before. Any changes that may need to be made can be made that day. Since we communicate with you throughout the design process, we have a clear idea of what you're looking for. If we have any questions regarding the design, rest assured we will ask you before proceeding, as to not waste anyone's time. 

What happens if I have to cancel my appointment?

If you must cancel your appointment we require at least 24 hours notice, and you must speak with someone. Voicemail cancellations, will not be accepted. If 24 hours is not given or if you simply do not show up to the appointment, the deposit is forfeit and cannot be used towards future appointments. You would have to leave another deposit. 

How do I get a price quote? 

There are many factors in determining the price of a tattoo. Including, size, placement, details, color or black and gray, to name a few. It is very hard to determine a price over the phone or through email. If you are sending an email, please be sure to include any references, size and placement on the body. 

How do I prepare for the tattoo appointment?

Firstly, try and relax. Half the battle is mental. Yes it will hurt, but we promise you are safe and in good hands. Make sure that you eat a good meal before coming in and plenty of fluids, if you are especially nervous. Please do not come in intoxicated or under the influence of drugs. You will not be tattooed. 

Do you do cover-ups? 

We do! We do quite a few cover-ups in fact, and have someone inquiring about covering up or fixing an old tattoo weekly. We can take your old, ugly, badly done or outgrown tattoo and make it into something beautiful. Please be open though, cover-ups are very difficult and there are limits to everything.

If your tattoo cannot be covered up or you are not comfortable with the size of the new tattoo, we can highly recommend a laser removal facility, that we have personally worked with. 

Can you tattoo over scars or stretch marks?

Yes. The scars need to be fully healed, usually around a year old. It is always best to come by so that we can see the scars/stretch marks and figure out best to cover them. If you are emailing about covering scars or stretch marks, please be sure to send a picture and let us know how old they are. 

Can I get tattooed if I am pregnant or breast feeding?

No. It is not safe to get tattooed when you are pregnant or breast feeding. 

Can I bring my children? 

We love kids, but tattoo shops are generally not places that you want to have children. Depending on the tattoo, you may be here for a few hours. They will inevitably get bored. There is not room for them to run around and we can't watch them, while you're getting tattooed. If you would like to bring them, just make sure that there is someone to watch them at all times. 

How do I take care of my tattoo? 

We will explain, in detail how to care for your tattoo and we will also give you a print out. If you have any questions, no matter how big or small, do not ever hesitate to contact us. We want your tattoo to heal perfectly and quickly. Please do not take the advice of your friends or family. They may not know what is the correct way of healing and inadvertently cause problems, leading to a bad heal, color fading, ink pulling out ect. 

What forms of payment do you take? We prefer cash, but do also take all major credit cards.

Do I tip my artist?

Tipping is standard practice for any service, including tattooing. There is no right or wrong amount, but your artist will appreciate the gesture no matter what.
